TYPES OF COURSES - DISCOVER OUR COURSES


We offer several types of courses here at Abril ESCUELA DE ESPAÑOL, largely based on the numbers of hours of class you wish to attend each day together with the content of material covered.
Each of our classes is 55 minutes long:


SCHEDULE

COURSE TWO / ANNUAL COURSE TWO

(minimum Period of matriculation: one week):

Course Two is thought for students who don´t have a lot of time to learn Spanish every day. In this course the student may choose between two options:
10:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. Grammar - a highly interactive and enjoyable method of teaching grammar is used.
Or
12:10 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Written Communication - emphasis is placed on building vocabulary, understanding written texts and on writing practice.
If you choose this course you should take into account that Abril Escuela de Español cannot offer you a certificate to get a student visa. Besides, the timetable for this course could vary depending on the number of students in each group.
This course for 35 weeks is called ANNUAL COURSE TWO.

COURSE FOUR / ANNUAL COURSE FOUR
(minimum Period of matriculation: one week):

Course Four is ideally suited for students who wish to learn Spanish at a reasonably fast pace but, at the same time, have sufficient time to enjoy the Spanish lifestyle.
The course schedule is shown below:

10:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. Grammar - a highly interactive and enjoyable method of teaching grammar is used.
11:50 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. Break - a twenty minute break for tea or coffee and a chance to relax in the company of both teachers and students.
12:10 p.m. - 1:05 p.m. Written Communication - an emphasis is placed on building vocabulary, understanding written texts and on writing practice.
1:05 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Oral Communication - the students participate in debates, simulate "real-life" situations and give presentations on a wide variety of topics.

This course for 35 weeks is called ANNUAL COURSE FOUR.

COURSE FIVE / ANNUAL COURSE FOUR
(Minimum Period of matriculation: one week):
Course Five's schedule is essentially that of Course Four together with one additional 55 minute lesson. This course is aimed at students who either wish to prepare specifically for examinations or who would like to learn more about Spain and Spanish culture. In the first lesson of Course Five's daily timetable (9:00 a.m. - 9:55 p.m.), students at either basic or intermediate level may attend a class in Spanish Culture (Level I) only.

Between 9:00 a.m. and 9:55 p.m. students of Course Five at either high or advanced level may attend any one of three classes, the types of which are explained below:

a) Preparation for either the "Diploma Nivel Intermedio" or the “Diploma Nivel Superior” of the D.E.L.E. examination: The Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language is an official examination organized by the Spanish Department of Education, the Cervantes’ Institute and the University of Salamanca. Abril ESCUELA DE ESPAÑOL offers this course to students who wish to attend this examination either here in Spain or, later, in their own home country (the Spanish Embassy will have all the details). more info

b) Spanish for Commerce: Abril ESCUELA DE ESPAÑOL offers this course to students who are preparing to attend examinations in Spanish for Commerce organized by the Chamber of Commerce. The course will be of particular interest to those involved in business administration.

c) Spanish Culture: this course is aimed at students who wish to know more about Spain and Spanish culture. Students at either high or advanced level attend Spanish Culture Level 1.

This course for 35 weeks is called ANNUAL COURSE FIVE.

COURSE SIX / ANNUAL COURSE SIX
(Minimum Period of matriculation: one week):

Its structure is the same as that of COURSE FIVE, but with one more hour of class. Therefore:

Begins at 8:00 A.M. and you will have class of Culture of Spain I-1 or Culture of Spain II-1, according to your level of Spanish, until the 8:55 A.M.
From 9:00 A.M. to 9:55 A.M. you will have one of the following classes:
Students of Basic or Intermediate level: Culture I
Students of High or Superior level, according to its election:
- Culture II
- Preparation for the DELE Diploma in Spanish (more info)
- Spanish for Commerce

Later, from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. you will have Grammar, Written Communication and Oral Communication (just as COURSE FOUR).

This course for 35 weeks is called ANNUAL COURSE SIX.

You can ask for the number of individual hours that you wish so that a professor teaches you in an individual and personalized way. You can also combine Course Four, Course Five or Course Six with one extra individual hour.

NON-NATIVE TEACHERS' COURSE - (on July and August)
Abril ESCUELA DE ESPAÑOL offers a specific course for those Spanish professors and teachers who develop their work throughout the world.
In this course non-native professors can find solutions for several situations which they have to face in this type of career:
- solutions for problems with grammar and concerning the use of the language
- reference to different publications and editorials who work in the field of Spanish as a foreign language.
- new materials to take to class
- experienced teachers in Spanish teaching, who will be a new stimulus in their work.

The course will be given by professors with experience in the field of the Didactics of Spanish, which will be a new motivation in your work.
The global course lasts four weeks, and is divided into five sessions a week, totalling 15 hours a week. Each lecture is three hours a day. The participants can freely choose the weekly modules in which they wish to participate. The structure of every day of class is the following:
Monographic Subject on methodology, pedagogical and didactic materials (a session of 55 minutes)
Explanation and practice of the grammar (a session of 55 minutes)
